We are thrilled to introduce you to an innovative new technology now available at Two Rivers Dentistry, making us among the first in the nation to offer it to our patients. CURODONT™ Repair Fluoride Plus, developed by Vardis in Switzerland, allows us to remineralize early cavities before they progress to needing fillings.
Previously, our approach involved cleanings and fluoride treatments aimed at cavity prevention, but often led to waiting until cavities required invasive drilling and filling. Now, imagine skipping the dental shot and drill. We simply clean the tooth, apply an etching and paint on a liquid for four minutes – quick, painless, and without staining or odor. This treatment is suitable for ages 4 and up, with minimal side effects.
Early cavities, often appearing as white spots on teeth, are targeted by a peptide or protein-infused liquid that creates a scaffold allowing the body to promote enamel remineralization with amino acids, calcium and phosphate ions. Progress can be monitored over months to ensure healing.
CURODONT has been used successfully in Switzerland for a decade, showing a 95% success rate – significantly higher than fluoride varnish alone. While regular home care and checkups remain crucial, this intermediary treatment marks a significant advancement.
Starting January 2024, a new ADA code will cover this hydroxyapatite remineralization procedure per tooth. Though typically not covered by insurance, it costs one-third of a traditional filling – a worthwhile investment in avoiding future dental procedures like crowns or implants.
We are excited to offer this groundbreaking technology and look forward to discussing how it can benefit you.
